Forget Tallying Bananas....

The "Chiquita" Costume from Total Betty

I swore that I wouldn't buy a Halloween costume--after all, so many people have made great free items for the holiday that it just seemed silly to spend money. And then I saw the Chiquita costume from Total Betty. Forget just wearing it for Halloween--this is something to wear over and over. Best of all, it comes with a little dance and plays the Banana Boat Song while I hula. Too cute!

Are You Pregnant? Part Six

Arguing with Chartreuse at the SL Hermit Guild Halloween Party
God I hate that skinny bitch!*

Don't You Look Away From Me!

Are You Listening To Anything I'm Saying?

It's On!

So Halloween is in a few days, which meant that this weekend has been filled with costumes and parties and general mayhem. I attended the SL Hermit Guild party in Selby at the invitation of my friend Kit, who looked lovely dressed as a wind-up ballerina. My costume? Pregnant Dot aka Britney Spears, in honor of all those people who have asked if I am pregnant. See what a pregnant AV looks like? I love the "Mommy to Be" t-shirt almost as much as I love cramming myself into those skinny jeans. Just be thankful I didn't wear a short skirt and no panties in order to give you the "Full Britney". Despite being fully clothed, I still won the best costume contest. I guess guys like pregnant lesbians or something. I usually don't argue with people like that but I polished off the bottle of vodka Kit gave me and well, I just got sooooo angry! How drunk was I? Well, I joined Tuber on the "sex hippo" (see below) which was the most satisfying ten seconds I've had with a man in years.

My default hair in SL has long been a freebie from Calla--when I was looking for a good short hair style I stumbled across their "Im So Preddy v2" style and immediately fell in love with it--I couldn't believe I had found something which suited me perfectly for free! So when I heard that Calla was giving out fall flavored hairstyles to their group members I headed over to Callatropia where I found what seemed to be thousands of people with hair on their minds. There were something like 24 different styles being given out, all in the pumpkin seed/pumpkin shell/black color family, with various permutations of each in the boxes. After collecting a few, I decided to take some pictures and share the results. What I saw confirmed my suspicions: round-faced girls like me should stick to short hair--I think the "Lichen" style is perfect for me. Thanks to everyone at Calla for the lovely hair! You can visit the Calla blog as well.

Oh, the sweater above is the "Annabel" model which is part of Kit Maitland's awesome Poe Collection available at CKS Designs. The collar is from Eat Rice.

"Box of Hair" is an excellent CD by the band Cub.

Watching A Hobo Soccer Match in Selby

Kit Gets Hung Up

So I was at home last night, doing my nails and eating ice cream, when Kit IMed to tell me a hobo soccer match was about to start. "Hobo soccer?" I said to myself, picturing disheveled men kicking around a tin can, and then hurried to put on something which would be suitable for such a sporting event. As it turns out, hobo soccer involves forklifts and a 55 gallon oil drum, the point of which is to drive the oil drum into your opponents goal. While the dynamics of the game are the equivalent of elephants dancing ballet, the crowd was fun and I got in my share of heckling which, after all, is the point of spectator sports since the fork lifts didn't actually crash and catch fire, which would have been pretty cool.

Aggravated note of the day: while trying to get dressed last night, I noticed that I had somehow deleted my favorite hoodie from Maitreya. Gah! Always look inside a folder you're deleting is the advice I give out and yet somehow forgot to follow this myself. You can see the hoodie in the pic with this post.

One Of These Things Is Not LIke The Others

Kets, Anessa, "Tinna", Dot, and Trixi Pose at Pin Ups

While at Pin Ups tonight, one of the regulars, whose name I will leave unwritten, came in dressed in drag. Apparently this was a fraternity pledge week requirement and "Tinna" was looking for dates. As I informed him, I might be a lesbian, but I'm not blind, so there was no date forthcoming. Several of us did agree to pose with him so he could show his fraternity buddies that he does have actual female friends. Now if we could just get him to do something about that dress.....

Waiting for the Elevator

Going Up With Mel

Getting Ready To Go Back Down

There is so much to see in Second Life that often times you don't realize what exactly is missing so when my friend Mel asked if I wanted to see an elevator she had made, I suddenly realized that I haven't actually seen one before in SL. Teleports are nice, but for verismilitude, especially in commercial architecture, one really needs a working elevator. If you want to see more, by all means visit elevate!

Birthday Thanks

Dot Earrings!

I'm a little tardy with this, but I want to thank everyone who made my birthday so enjoyable. Special mention goes to Books made me these lovely earrings (and a matching necklace) which look like Dots gumdrop candies and match my star tattoos. How cool is that?

The Great Pumpkin (No Not My Ass)

"Bad Kitty" from CKS Designs

Halloween is upon us and SL designers are pulling out all the stops. I've amassed quite a collection of bloody tattoos and brooms and witch hats--everything a girl needs to stylishly have fun on All Hallow's Eve. I've even rigged my collar to dispense treats so if you see me out and about, click it and get something nummy or just ask me for a candied apple. Out of all the Halloween gear I've collected, nothing warms my heart more than the "Bad Kitty" outfit from CKS Designs. (Bad) Kit(ty) Maitland has outdone herself, kitting out everyone right down to the undies. Best of all? It's free! All treat, no trick! But be warned: I dare you to go to CKS and not fall in love with the new Poe Collection which you will find right next to the Bad Kitty sign....

The "Bad Kitty" Socks and Shiny Things "Lollies" Shoes
(thanks Chartreuse for identifying the shoes immediately--do you think we have a problem?)

"Bad Kitty" Shirt Back and Undies
(the tattoo was made by my friend Books--kisses!)

You Old Flatterer, You

I've been busy the past few days trying to regroup and get my energy up for a new series blog posts. Don't fret: it isn't that I'm growing tired of the blog. Quite the reverse actually, there are so many things I want to blog about and so little time that I'm paralyzed by choice. During my hiatus I was pleased to discover that Romana Slade has started her own photo blog. Romana takes SL photos which she then manipulates with truly amazing results. She has a great eye and the ability to turn the mundane into something intensely erotic. Romana also says nice things about me, but I won't hold that against her.

Found Her!

Dot Lane Finds A Babe In A Haystack At Venezia

The babe, of course, is the lovely Bella, the Diva of Venezia. She was showing me the preparations for their Halloween event. It will be held this Saturday and Sunday at 5pm SLT.
Jaycatt and the Frog will perform on Saturday and DJ Amy Ferguson will play tunes on Sunday.
There will be costume contest, prize money, a fortune teller, a biting booth (oh how I want Bella to bite me) and dancing, romancing, and fun in one of SL's most impressive and beautiful sims. I won't be there to enjoy it, but I expect my readers to go and give me a full report.

Dive Into Twenty-Five

Diving Into Twenty-Five At Misty (click photo to enlarge)

Today is the day! A few weeks ago Betty Doyle of Ingenue gave out this wonderful dress on her birthday called, appropriately enough, "Birthday Girl". What better to wear on my 25th birthday? I'd like to thank all of my friends for making my SL so wonderful. I can't name you all here, but special thanks to my long standing friends Silvie, Marthian, and Gena for all of the kindness and patience you've shown to me. Have some cake and help me celebrate, wherever in the world you might find yourself!

Love, Dot

The Big Pink Event

Dot Lane On The Steps At Mysteria, Wearing Her Pink Cancer Awareness Ribbon.
I'm also wearing G.L.A.M. Skinny Jeans (a 1L freebie) and the awesome new "Emily" dress (ssssssh.....don't tell Kit I'm wearing it as a coat) from CKS Designs.

I was visiting Mysteria this morning and started chatting with everyone's favorite security manager, Aryon Dagger, who is currently working to raise awareness about breast cancer and learned about a wonderful event which will be held in two weeks at Mysteria. Aryon kindly provided me with the following:

BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH

On October 26th, 2007, Mysteria and the Isle of Lesbos will be holding the first annual BIG PINK event. To be held on Mysteria, this day long event will consist of music, dancing, dragon rides, kissing booths, bobbing for apples and an auction.

If you are a creator and have something you would like to donate for the auction, please IM Aryon Dagger.

All lindens raised will go to organizations dedicated to fighting this disease.

This is an event for women only.

+++++++

I will be there for at least part of the event and encourage everyone who can to attend. For those of you who can't, there are simple things you can do to examine yourself and help take charge of your own health: The Mayo Clinic's Guide to Breast Self-Examination. And while this event is for women only, I think it only fair to remind men that they they have their own self-examination that they should be aware of: The Mayo Clinic's Guide to Testicular Cancer.

The Susan G. Komen for the Cure organzation is a wonderful resource if you feel like making a RL donation.

Whose House? Dot's House!

DOTS House in Nagoya Central Nippon

Speaking of "Kind Design" (we were speaking of that weren't we?), Ana Boogiewoogie sent out a gift to her group members recently. I'm beginning to think that the designers are targeting me since they're sending out clothes with dots. About a week ago it was See No Evil and now this lovely tank top (see above) from Sh*t Happens which will go with my short black skirts and capris and well, whatever I want to wear it with really. I'm contemplating entering the contest to be the face of Sh*t Happens--can you imagine me plastered on ads everywhere? I can, because this is Dot's world and the rest of you are just living in it.

You say you want more dots? My friend Books saw my inner Donna Reed and bought me the "Wonder Dress" from Olivia's Secret, and it wasn't even my birthday (which is, in fact, coming up very soon hint hint!). I love the way it looks but I suspect Donna wouldn't have worn it with a collar which says "Fuck Off" although I am willing to bet that's what she was secretly thinking. Please no jokes about me needing a "Wonder Bra" to go with it.....

No, They Weren't Fighting Over Me

Glam and Tinman Battle It Out At Pin Ups

Dot Lane has been spending her evenings at Pin Ups lately, because she just can't get enough of that hot turtle-on-guy action. Glam swears she is usually sexier than this but just look at the size of that staff! Oh baby......

Dot Lane Does The Walk of Shame*

I spent some time last night dancing at Pin Ups with a couple of friends (Dot Lane waves to Glam and Stein) and listening to the great music that is always being played there. The theme? Rock star! Now I'm not much of a rock star but Stein suggested I could be her groupie, which struck me as fun so I got all dolled up in my Lower East Side best and had a blast. Of course, I woke up this morning in a gutter wearing the same clothes and had to take the walk of shame over to Mysteria, where Romana snapped the pic of me which you see up top. Thank God for sunglasses!

*It wasn't really a walk of shame because Stein and I didn't actually *do* anything. My wallet was missing out of my purse however, along with my favorite lipstick. I didn't even have bus fare to Mysteria and had to hoof it my stiletto heel boots. That's the last time I take an *Advil* someone hands to me! I hope she still has my phone number....

Fall Into CKS Designs' "Amarantine"

CKS Designs "Amarantine" Chocolate Brown Sweater, Indian Summer Plaid Pants

CKS Designs "Amarantine" Green Turtleneck, Ivy League Smart Skirt, Green Tights

Kit Maitland at CKS Designs has just released a fall collection which is sure to please those of you who love apple picking, hayrack rides, and pumpkin carving. "Amarantine" has coats, sweaters, turtlenecks, skirts (including smart skirts), pants, and tights in perfect fall shades--both solids and plaids. It makes Dot Lane think of the vintage Pendleton shirts she sometimes find while cruising the racks at Goodwill. Head on over to CKS Designs in Selby and while you're there be sure to wander around the entire SIM--it is my new favorite place in Second Life. You can see more photos of the collection here.
